Special Fiber to the People Program!
Aspire Artisan Studios & Folk School’s Pop-up General Store
Saturday, May 18: 10am-4pm
We’re looking forward to taking part in the Aspire Artisan Studios & Folk School’s Pop-up General Store on Saturday, May 18. Located in Waconia, Aspire is one of Minnesota’s newest folk schools, opening its doors in 2015. In celebration of spring, they’re hosting a pop-up in the spirit of old time “mom-and-pop” general stores, featuring handmade, homemade, nature-made treasures from local artisans along with live music from Kyle Ollah. The Weavers Guild will be on hand to offer visitors a chance to weave on inkle and warp-weighted looms. Admission is only $5, but friends of the Weavers Guild are welcome to use this coupon for 2-for-1 entry. Directions ?
We’re also teaching a warp-weighted loom weaving class at Aspire Artisan Studio on Saturday, August 17. Registration is now open.
This activity is part of Fiber to the People, a year-long program series exploring historical fiber production processes and tools, and is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
